Sports House at Varsity Lakes is a vibrant community hub offering spaces and services for a range of commercial and recreational uses.
Although serving a humble purpose, the Boat Shed is the visual and community anchor of Sports House at Varsity Lakes.
As a result, it needed to make an attractive impression while remaining durable and low-cost. Colorbond cladding in contemporary colours was used to achieve this balance, adding a simple yet dynamic visual appeal.
The associated services office reflects the Colorbond colour palette while drawing on maritime motifs to provide a sense of visual and conceptual continuity across the buildings.
The buildings address the lakeside frontage with articulated features, including a differentiated colour palette across the Boat Shed facade inspired by Brighton’s historic bathing boxes.
